Weight is JUST a number

We all do, we get on the scale the day after a great workout, hoping to see the number go down, only to see the number the same!! What the....  And if the number happens to have gone up, we feel like throwing the scale out the window, don't you?

But what we have to remember is that it takes more than just one day, more than just one workout to see any changes.  After all, the weight didn't come on in one day did it?  We like to think so however.  So to just use the scale for weight loss is a big mistake. You should also use tape measure to measure inches lost.  Fat takes up more room than muscle, so when you exercise more, you may be gaining muscle, which is replacing the weight part, but if done correctly, you should be seeing your measurements go down.  Eventually, the scale will reflect the changes too.  You will see this change in the way your clothes fit and how you feel, which for most is the best part.  The more you exercise the more energy you will start to have.  You will begin to find yourself  forming an exercise habit and may even begin to like it.  Keep it fun, use a variety of exercises and it wont be such a chore anymore.

Build more muscle, it burns more calories!  It helps boost your metabolism and burns calories even after you are done working out.  You don't have to just lift weights, you can do any type of strength training using machines or even the exercise bands.  Bands are great, especially for traveling, working out while watching tv or during commercials and if you have a desk job, keep one there too to get in a few minutes while on those boring conference calls :) So no more excuses.... band up.
